Fund Objectives
The objectives of the Fund are to:

  1. Build a strong Green Power market in the state.
  2. Establish a strong statewide economic base in clean energy products and services.
  3. Deliver investment returns that allow the Fund to sustain its operation.

Investment criteria
To be considered for investment by the fund, projects and companies must:

  • Provide a clear benefit to the ratepayers of Connecticut.
  • Involve renewable or clean energy technologies (list below)
  • Offer financial returns commensurate with the risk level.

Target Opportunities
Renewable and Clean Energy Technologies, including:

  • Fuel cells
  • Landfill gas
  • Low emission biomass conversion
  • Ocean thermal energy
  • Solar
  • Wave or tidal energy
  • Wind
  • Emerging non-fossil, non-nuclear technologies.

We are particularly interested in early stage opportunities that will:

  1. produce or build consumer demand for green power in Connecticut, or
  2. produce and/or market green power products in the state.

Fund Size:
$120 million available for investment by 2004.

Investment Range:
$100,000 to $3 million.

Investment Vehicles:
The Fund has wide latitude in choice of funding vehicles. However we anticipate that most of our deals will involve equity positions.

Business Plan:
Your business plan should include (at a minimum):

  • The extent of your market research.
  • A marketing strategy for your business, product or project.
  • The experience of your management team.
  • The technical characteristics of the product or project.
  • Financial projections.
