Installed Capacity Initiative

To further the use of clean energy, it is necessary that Connecticut ratepayers have access to a diverse supply of installed clean energy resources. This is the goal of our Installed Capacity initiative.

Connecticut has issued a legislative mandate to distribution companies to contract for no less than 100MW of clean energy under long term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) by July 1, 2008. For these projects to qualify for special treatment, they must be funded by CCEF as set forth by legislative mandate. Aside from projects qualifying for the PPAs, clean distributed generation offers benefits to the ratepayers that include enhanced grid stability, reliability, security and reduced environmental impacts.

CCEF's Installed Capacity Initiatives fall under one of two major headings; Market Supply and Host Supply.
