Pass a municipal clean energy resolution

Municipal resolutions are an important and necessary component of the SmartPower 20% by 2010 campaign and the Connecticut Clean Energy Community program.  The passage of a municipal resolution committing to 20% clean energy use by 2010 is the first tangible step towards the realization of a free solar energy system being placed on municipal property.letterResolution.htm

Ideally, a municipal resolution will include three (3) components:

1.
A commitment to obtain 20% of the annual municipal electricity demand from clean, renewable sources by the year 2010, beginning with a purchase in the near term and increasing over time to reach the target goal; and,
2.
Establishment of an Energy Task Force to research and make recommendations as to how the town can achieve its clean energy goals; and,
3.
Education and encouragement of the town residents, businesses and institutions to support clean energy.

The following links are sample resolutions that can be used as a guide for any civic leader or town official interested in promoting 20% clean energy use for their town by 2010.
