20% by 2010 Clean Energy Campaign Progress:

The Town of Glastonbury uses 12,695 MWh of electricity per year for all municipal facilities. Therefore, their 20% clean energy use target is 2,539 MWh in 2010. To date, Glastonbury has met approximately 16% of that goal through a voluntary purchase of 160 MWh and through 254 MWh from the mandatory state Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS).

Town Description:

Glastonbury is located approximately 10 miles south of Hartford, CT, the state’s Capital city. The community is approximately 52.5 sq. miles with a population of 33,000+/-. The Town operates under a Council-Manager form of government which was established in 1959. Glastonbury is rated AAA by Standard & Poors and Aa1 by Moody’s investor Services. The Town is bordered to the west by approximately 9 miles of the Connecticut River and includes high quality economic development including business and retail, outstanding public schools and municipal facilities, active farms and orchards, and a beautiful historic district. Glastonbury is identified as a “great place to live, learn, work, and do business” and a highly desirable residential and business community.
