Project History
Coventry High School was selected as a host site for the Small Wind Turbine Demonstration Project (SWTDP) in March of 2009; it was one of four sites selected from over 30 applicants. Staff from The Cadmus Group and Alteris performed an on-site visit on June 10 to coordinate workflow with Coventry High School staff and to mark out foundations and plan the installation timeline. Coventry High School staff proceeded with wetland permitting approval. Stamped structural drawings were completed at the end of June and the building permit acquired soon thereafter. Excavation and foundation preparation took place in early August. Wind monitoring equipment was installed on the tower in late November 2009, followed by the tower raising. Data was collected and analyzed throughout the year, and the turbine was installed in September 2010.
