A Showcase for Renewable Energy Products
Across from the beautiful Bryan Memorial Town Hall in Washington Depot sits a cornerstone of the town of Washington – the Washington Supply Company, a source of information and products for the home and for home construction since 1893.
In the spring of 2010, Washington Supply Company hosted a dedication ceremony for the CCEF-supported 14.48-kilowatt solar photovoltaic (PV) system that had recently been installed there. The system consists of four different types of solar PV panels. All are connected electronically to a kiosk in the main store, which enables customers to “interact” with the system, viewing energy production data for the system and energy consumption data for the store.
It is believed that this is the first solar PV installation in Connecticut outside of science centers that is so accessible to persons or groups hoping to learn about different types of solar PV and experience renewable energy production firsthand.
