Practicing What It Preaches
Kaestle Boos Associates practices what it preaches. This architectural design firm, which promotes efficient and environmentally sound facilities to its clients, has installed a 34.85-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system on its own facility. Consisting of 170 solar panels mounted on the roof of the building that houses KBA, the solar array supplies approximately 13.5 percent of the building’s electrical needs. The PV system was installed by Alteris Renewables.
According to the firm’s chief operating officer, by utilizing the system’s net-metering capabilities, Kaestle Boos Associates will not only be able to reduce its costs and energy consumption but will also supply cleanly generated electricity back to the grid during periods of reduced internal usage, such as on weekends.
