CNC Software, Inc.

The solar array at CNC Software, a leading provider of CAD/CAM software, was the third nonresidential ground-mounted solar photovoltaic system installed in Connecticut and the company’s latest effort to reduce its carbon footprint and improve its operating efficiency.  The array, installed in the summer of 2008, consists of 360 solar panels and supplies up to one third of the building’s required electricity.   

CNC is passionate about protecting the environment.  At CNC, being green is not just about reducing the company’s carbon footprint; it is also about embracing sustainable living methods that preserve the environment. The company strives to utilize only clean, renewable sources for energy and reduce overall energy consumption. Strong efforts are made to minimize waste and purchase only high quality, sustainably produced materials.  Additionally, the company utilizes geothermal heat pumps for heating and cooling at its green headquarters facility in Tolland.

The company’s solar array satisfies a significant portion of the Tolland facility’s electricity needs; all remaining electricity demand is purchased at a green premium and consists of a mix of landfill gas-, wind- and hydro-generated electricity.
