A Royal Flush Is Royally Green

Sound Solar Systems, a clean energy installation and development company, Altus Power Management, a company investing in clean energy projects, and the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund teamed up to complete the installation of a major solar array on the roof of the 20,000 s.f. building occupied by A Royal Flush in Bridgeport. CCEF provided funding of $116,225 to support the installation, which has been projected to reduce A Royal Flush’s electricity draw from the grid by up to 35 percent.

A Royal Flush, which provides a selection of portable restrooms, restroom trailers, sinks and holding tanks, has incorporated diverse green practices into its operations. In addition to generating clean energy, the company uses low-emission vehicles; sensor lighting to conserve energy; portable toilets made from 40 percent post consumer recycled plastic; nonhazardous, deodorizing liquids in its portable toilets; 100 percent recycled toilet paper in its porta potties; and rain tanks to catch water to fill holding tanks and toilet reservoirs, as well as wash out toilets.
