Seizing Solar Opportunities
Solar PV systems offer a way for cost-conscious small businesses to not only reduce their electricity bills but also protect the environment.
The17.82-kilowatt, 99-panel solar installation at Tylaska Marine Hardware, a manufacturer of marine hardware in Mystic, Connecticut, has not only provided Tylaska with a clear pathway to reduced electricity bills but has also inspired the management team to develop a brand new product line, the company’s first for the solar industry. During the installation process, the company’s president realized that his team could design a superior mounting clamp to secure solar PV panels on standing seam metal roofs. He and his team at Tylaska are now in the process of developing such a clamp.
By developing such a product, the Tylaska team is sharing with others what it has learned from its experience installing solar PV on the company’s own roof and enabling others to benefit from an improved mounting system.
