Setting an Example for Manufacturers
The Siemon Company of is proving that renewable energy is not just smart environmental policy, but smart business.
In early 2009, the Siemon Company completed the installation of a 225.72-kilowatt solar PV installation at its World Headquarters location in Watertown. Consisting of more than 700 solar panels, the roof-mounted solar array is installed on the company’s 76,000 square foot manufacturing facility. The solar installation supplies approximately six percent of the electricity required at the headquarters site and is among several recent steps this network cabling solutions company has taken to improve its energy efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint. By implementing its green initiatives in phases, the company was able to make huge environmental strides without disrupting core business activities. What’s more, most of its green programs offered opportunities to reduce operational costs.
