Affordable Housing Goes Solar
Solar photovoltaic installations are located at a number of affordable housing sites across Connecticut, including the 213-unit School House apartment community in Waterbury. The developer of the apartment complex, WinnCompanies, utilized incentives from CCEF’s Affordable Housing Initiative and its On-Site Renewable Distributed Generation Program to make this 164.80-kilowatt solar installation possible.
WinnCompanies believes that by installing solar energy systems on housing for low income families in Connecticut, it is preserving long-term affordability and enabling residents to reduce their carbon footprint.
