Feeding Energy Needs with Solar
United Natural Foods Inc. carries and distributes more than 40,000 food and related products to more than 17,000 customers nationwide. Its state-of-the-art distribution facility in Dayville, Connecticut, serves as both UNFI’s corporate headquarters and as a regional distribution center in the company’s nationwide distribution network.
Ranked by Fortune as one of its “Most Admired Companies,” UNFI has implemented a number of environmentally responsible initiatives. Among them is its installation of a 480.03-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system at its Dayville facility.
This solar installation is benefiting ratepayers by not only improving the environment but also reducing demand on the electric grid at times of peak demand. UNFI has helped to raise the bar for environmental stewardship in New England.
