Revved Up to Protect the Environment
Bell Power Systems, a local John Deere and Yanmar engine distributor, has been in business for over 43 years supplying diesel engines to the eastern United States. Bell Power Systems’ president and his team in Essex, Connecticut, are committed to energy conservation and environmental stewardship.
In September 2008, Bell Power Systems dedicated its new 60,000 square foot facility, which was designed with a number of energy-saving and “green” features. Motion sensor lighting, as well as high-energy lights and motors were installed to help lower the company’s carbon footprint. During the dedication for the new facility, the company also unveiled a 104.83-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system. As of June 2009, the system had generated over 75,250 kWh of power, avoided the production of 52,663 kg of CO2 emissions and saved Bell Power Systems in excess of $35,000 on its electricity bills.
Additionally, Bell Power offsets its operational travel and shipping expenses through investments in zero emission renewable energy production credits.
