An Intelligent Redevelopment
i.park Norwalk, a 400,000 square foot office park situated along the Norwalk River, boasts an intelligent, green infrastructure. Its developer has sought to preserve and enhance the natural surroundings of the 30-acre property and transform the park’s existing office building into an intelligent “green” building.
Thanks in part to support from the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, the remodeled office building, the former headquarters of PerkinElmer, Inc., now features clean energy generating solar panels on its roof. Consisting of 324 solar panels and nine inverters, the solar photovoltaic system is providing approximately eight percent of the building’s electricity.
The remodeled office building also features reflective, white roofing, low-e Energy Star® windows and energy-efficient HVAC. These features, along with the building’s solar panels, have enabled i.park Norwalk to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, a well-recognized green building certification.
