An Eco-Friendly Initiative
The addition of solar panels to the rooftop of GE’s corporate headquarters complex, composed of two separate buildings, is one of the company’s many initiatives to reduce non-renewable energy use and lower greenhouse gas emissions. This installation has resulted in lower use of utility supplied power during the periods of highest demand. The photovoltaic system incorporates GE’s PVp-200-M 200-watt polycrystalline panels, which were supplied at cost to the project.
GE’s director of environmental health and safety operations said that the solar installation was a natural fit with the company’s Ecomagination initiative and GE’s goal to be a good neighbor in Fairfield County. Ecomagination involves a set of commitments around reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and improving energy efficiency in the company’s global operations. It also involves developing environmentally conscious products.
In addition to benefiting the environment, this solar installation benefits GE by helping the company reduce the impact of energy cost increases.
