Werner Valeur-Jensen, owner of the 1011 High Ridge Road office building in Stamford, and Nicholas Mercede, chairman of Frank Mercede & Sons, property manager, in a June 2010 press release stated, “This building has always been on the leading edge with regard to ‘green’ systems. In 1977, it was one of the first commercial buildings in Fairfield County to feature a solar thermal system. We have now replaced that system with a new, state-of-the-art solar PV system – one that will benefit our tenants by reducing their electricity costs and benefit the community by easing our demand on the electric grid.”
The CCEF-supported 70.76 kW rooftop solar PV system at 1011 High Ridge Road is generating approximately 10 percent of the electricity needs of the building. Installed by Alteris Renewables in early 2010, this 232-panel system was made possible in part by a grant from CCEF, which defrayed approximately half of the total project cost.
