$557,134 Grant from Connecticut Clean Energy Fund Approved for Hydro Electric Turbine Demonstration

ROCKY HILL, Conn., May 14, 2007 - The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF), a ratepayer fund administered by Connecticut Innovations Inc. (CI), today announced that the Connecticut Clean Energy Investment Committee has approved a loan of $557,134 to help fund the demonstration of a new unique 500-kilowatt hydro electric turbine system, consisting of five micro hydro turbine units, at Kirby Mill in Mansfield, Connecticut. The developer of the technology is Windham Automated Machines, Inc. (WAM), an equipment engineering and manufacturing company located in the historic Kirby Mill within Mansfield Hollow State Park. CCEF's funding will be provided through its Operational Demonstration Program.

First Electricity Purchase Agreement under Project 100 Signed

ROCKY HILL, Conn., May 10, 2007 - The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF), a ratepayer fund administered by Connecticut Innovations Inc. (CI), a quasi-public state authority, today announced that the first long-term electricity purchase agreement (EPA) for Class 1 renewable energy under Project 100 has been completed - a 15-year EPA for the purchase of clean energy from a facility with 15 megawatts of production capacity. The EPA was executed by The Connecticut Light and Power Company (CL&P), the purchaser of clean electricity, and GDI Renewable Power - Watertown, LLC, the renewable energy producer and seller.

Manchester Commits to 20% Clean Energy by 2010 and Becomes 20th Connecticut Clean Energy Community

MANCHESTER, Conn., April 26, 2007 -  On the evening of April 17th, the Town of Manchester became the latest community in Connecticut to help the state solidify its place as a leader in clean energy when it both committed to the SmartPower 20% by 2010sm campaign and earned the designation of Connecticut Clean Energy Community. Manchester becomes the 45th municipality in the state to commit to 20% clean energy by 2010. Because Manchester had already far surpassed the threshold number of CTCleanEnergyOptionssm program customers that was required to become a Connecticut Clean Energy Community, the town also qualified as the 20th such community in the state under a program sponsored by the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF).

Derby and Willimantic BJ's Wholesale Clubs Unveil "Twin" Solar PV Arrays

ROCKY HILL, Conn., April 11, 2007 - The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF), BJ's Wholesale Club and Conservation Services Group (CSG) today hosted a dedication ceremony to celebrate the unveiling of two 82.8-kilowattDC commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) systems that have been installed on the rooftops of two Connecticut BJ's Wholesale Clubs - the 80,160 square foot retail store in Derby and the 68,160 square foot retail store in Willimantic. The installations were made possible, in part, by a combined grant of $742,000 from CCEF through its On-Site Renewable Distributed Generation Program. The balance of the system cost is being financed by the system developer and owner, Conservation Services Group (CSG).

Pine Point School of Stonington Unveils 72.6-kilowatt Solar Electric System

ROCKY HILL, Conn., April 2, 2007 - The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF), a ratepayer fund administered by Connecticut Innovations Inc. (CI), today participated in a dedication event at Pine Point School of Stonington, Connecticut, to celebrate the installation of a 72.6-kilowattSTC solar photovoltaic (PV) system on the rooftop of this independent day school serving students from pre-school through grade 9. The installation of the 330-panel solar PV system was made possible through a grant of $285,000 from CCEF's On-Site Renewable Distributed Generation Program. The grant covered approximately 62% of the cost of the solar PV installation. The balance of the system cost is being financed by solar developer and installer SolarWrights Inc.

Green Light Given for Connecticut Clean Energy Fund Grant to Support Solar PV Installation

ROCKY HILL, Conn., March 29, 2007 - The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF) today announced that the Clean Energy Investment Committee has approved a grant of $126,000 to New Canaan Country School (NCCS) to help defray approximately half the cost of installing a 27.6-kilowatt solar photovoltaic (PV) system on the rooftop of the school's Stevens Upper School Building. When installed, the solar PV system is expected to generate about 5.6% of the school's total electrical needs.

Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, Under Round 2 of Project 100, Selects 11 Renewable Energy Projects

ROCKY HILL, Conn., March 26, 2007 - The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF), a ratepayer fund administered by Connecticut Innovations Inc. (CI), a quasi-public state authority, has screened and selected 11 renewable energy projects to forward to the state's two electric distribution companies, the Connecticut Light and Power Company (CL&P) and the United Illuminating Company (UI), under Round 2 of Project 100. These electric distribution companies will review CCEF's recommendations and perform additional analyses leading to their selection of projects to receive long-term power purchase agreements. This was the second round of projects selected through Project 100, an innovative program created by the Connecticut General Assembly to develop not less than 100 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy generation for the benefit of all Connecticut consumers. Round 1 of Project 100 resulted in the electric distribution companies negotiating a long-term power purchase contract representing approximately 15 MW of new renewable generation.

Connecticut Clean Energy Fund Grant Approved to Support Solar PV Installation at R.C. Bigelow

March 23, 2007 - The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF) today announced that the Clean Energy Investment Committee has approved a grant of $777,000 to the R.C. Bigelow Company, also known as the Bigelow Tea Company, to defray approximately 55% of the cost of installing a 171-kilowatt solar photovoltaic (PV) system at the company's Fairfield, Connecticut headquarters facility. The solar PV system will be mounted on the rooftops of four different building levels and will supply approximately 195,600 kilowatt hours annually, or 6.7% of the total electrical needs of the headquarters complex.

Fifteen Connecticut Towns Receive Clean Energy Grants

ROCKY HILL, Conn., February 27, 2007 - The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF) today announced that it has presented fifteen Connecticut towns - Bloomfield, Canton, Cheshire, Chester, Essex, Hartford, Harwinton, Meriden, Plainville, Salisbury, Stamford, West Hartford, Westport, Wethersfield and Woodbridge - with grants of $5,000 each to help their communities support clean energy awareness and education. The CCEF program through which the grants were provided is known as the Community Innovations Grants Program. These new grants follow nine grants announced previously, bringing the total number of Connecticut towns awarded grants through this program to 24.

100th Residential Solar PV Installation Milestone Reached in Connecticut

ROCKY HILL, Conn., February 21, 2007 - The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF) and Portland home owners Andy Bauer and Joanna Schnurman today hosted a gathering at their residence to celebrate the installation of the state's 100th residential solar photovoltaic (PV) system - enabled with assistance from CCEF. The 2.4-kilowatt solar PV system is installed on the rooftop of their home and is expected to supply 30% or more of the family's electricity needs while reducing the family's monthly electric bill.
